Announcement on Audrey’s Day at the Beach 2020

The Saturday before Father’s Day weekend, we gather at Rockport Beach Park as a community to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome. This event was originally created by Bill & Jackie Shockley along with their family in loving memory of their granddaughter, Audrey – who was born with Down syndrome. In 2017, the DSASTX took over the event and continues to promote awareness of our Down syndrome community in memory of Audrey and so many others whose light shone brief but bright.

Due to the recent pandemic, the DSASTX has made the tough decision to cancel Audrey’s Day at the Beach that was scheduled for June 13th, 2020. With the evolving situation of the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19), nothing is more important than the health and safety of our DSASTX community, volunteers, and employees. We appreciate your understanding and support during these unprecedented circumstances.

The entire staff – Brian, Oralia, Michelle, Ashley and Nicole – would like to thank you all as a community for your patience, kind messages, and understanding as we all get used to the “new normal” of life. If you should have any questions and/or concerns, we are available to you any time via email,

Though we can’t be together for this great event, on Saturday, June 13th, let’s show how we will still celebrate and remember Audrey (along with the entire Down syndrome community) by posting photos at home having some summer fun, using the hashtag #CelebrateAudrey! We look forward to seeing fun photos – don’t forget to tag us, @DSASTX!

We look forward to celebrating Audrey’s Day at the Beach next summer at Rockport beach!

Stay well and big (virtual) hugs to all!
– The DSASTX Team
