I want to start by introducing the team that will be writing for this blog. Our Family Community Resources Committee (FCRC) is composed of:

  • Judith Moening – Former Special Education Director
  • Oralia Lara-Vargas – Former Special Education Director
  • Danielle Edwards – Speech Language Pathologist
  • Claudia Vargas – Family Engagement Consultant/Education Service Center-Region 20
  • Mary Eitniear – Former Special Education Director
  • Cori McGhee – NEISD CET Program Coordinator
  • Faith Levario- DSASTX Outreach & Program Coordinator

Our mission is to empower, educate, and support those who seek information about Down syndrome by providing an avenue where various topics and ideas can be shared, which includes any audience interested in sharing experiences. We are better together!

And how, you may ask? We all go through life’s unexpected circumstances, and we all go through them differently, but sometimes we end up joining one another. Better Together: the 321 Blog! is a place to find monthly readings when we find ourselves, at that moment, wanting to know, feeling the same, or needing to hear. Long-time researcher and academic Brené Brown once said, “In a culture of scarcity and perfectionism, there’s a surprisingly simple reason we want to own, integrate, and share our stories of struggle. We do this because we feel the most alive when we’re connecting with others and being brave with our stories.” Here, at the Better Together: the 321 Blog!, we want to share those stories, experiences, and advice because we want anyone out there who is a parent, sibling, grandparent, professional, or even a friend to someone with Down syndrome to feel supported at any and every moment.

Our goal with the Better Together: the 321 Blog! is to be just that place where we meet in the middle, connect with each other, learn from one another, and become better, together.

We are so excited to launch this blog in July 2022 and even more excited for you to be joining us. Enjoy!
